Itinerary at a glance
Day 1 - Commence Paro
Arrive Paro. Our representative will meet you on arrival then set out for a short tour and orientation around the local sites.
Day 2 - to Bumthang
This morning take the flight to Bumthang. On arrival set out for some local sightseeing. There is plenty to see. Bumthang District has many historic dzongkhag and we have selected a few of the key sites to visit
Day 3 - Bumthang
Today head off to explore the remote Tang valley. On arrival visit a local family museum and walk in the village. In the afternoon return drive to Bumthang.
Day 4 - to Chummey
Head west towards the Chummey valley. Along the way stop at Ura for a walk and short rural tour. After lunch continue by road to Chummey valley.
Day 5 - To Phobjikha
This morning we have time for some brief sightseeing at Chummey valley before driving to Phobjikha valley via Trongsa. Sightseeing at Trongsa and enroute.
Day 6 - to Wangdue
Explore Phobjikha. Bhutan’s biggest wetland valley and also the winter habitat of the endangered Black Necked Crane. Later evening drive to Wangdue.
Day 7- Wangdue
This morning enjoy a walk in the village. After lunch visit Punakha a short drive up valley for cultural sightseeing in Punakha incuding a visit to the Dzong (Ancient fortress) showcasing traditional architecture.
Day 8 - to Thimphu
Today relocate to Thimphu, approx 2 hours by road. Along the way stop for sightseeing and a walk in natural botanical park amidst old growth trees and flowering rhododendron forest.
Day 9 - Thimphu
Set out for sightseeing in Thimpu including a Painting school, textile museum, local paper factory, Takin enclosure and the large Buddha statue.
Day 10 - to Paro
Today there is an option to walk to Tango/Cheri monastery through old growth sub alpine forests. This is a good chance to view wildlife including mountain goats, Langurs (long tailed monkeys) and birds. Walking time approx 3.5 hours return. Later today relocate to Paro
Day 11 - Paro
Drive to the highest road pass in Bhutan (approx 4000 meters). Walk on the alpine skyline walk with stunning panoramic views of Paro and Haa Valley. Walk terminates at nunnery. (option of 3 hours or 5 hrs hike) Farewell dinner tonight with local dance troupe.
Day 12 - Paro
Optional full day walk to visit Tigers Nest Monastery - Bhutan’s most popular cultural icon.
Day 13 - Conclude
Transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
