Journey from the 21st century cosmodrome at Baikonur to the ancient Silk Road city of Turkistan on this touring style trip following the track of explorers, traders and cosmonauts.We explore Kazakhstan’s southern TienShan mountain fringe to picturesque Charyn Canyon and beyond to scenic Kyrgyzstan’s Issykul lake. Along the way we have an opportunity to sample Kyrgyzstan’s ‘steppe’ culture of nomads and horsemen.

Itinerary at a glance
Day 1 - Arrive Almaty
Our representative will meet you on arrival at Almaty and transfer you to the hotel. There are no activities planned for the rest of the day. Dinner tonight is included.
Day 2 - Almaty
Today we are out and about around the city's cultural sites. We plan to visit the museum, the Ascension Cathedral and take a leisurely stroll in the city’s Panfilov park and gardens.
Day 3 - to Baikonur
This morning take a flight out west to Kyzl Orda and transfer 230km by road to Baikonur Cosmodrome. On arrival check into the hotel and as time permits visit Yuri Gagarin house museum and Baikonur Space Museum.
Day 4 - Baikonur
Today tour the key sights at the huge Cosmodrome complex of Baikonur.
Day 5 – To Kyzyl Orda and Turkistan
Today return drive to Kyzyl Orda and take the train to Turkistan, Kazakhstan’s most historical centre. The trip by train takes around 7 hours arriving in Turkestan early evening.
Day 6 - Turkistan
A full day's sightseeing today. During the course of the day we plan to visit the beautiful Mausoleum of Koja Ahmen Yasawi, the museum of Cultural History and Mausoleum of Rabigha-Sultan Begum.
Day 7 - Turkistan
Our programme today takes us 50km by road to visit the ruins of the historic fortress of Sauran. This site dates from 9th century and although holding little of academic interest today, it was once a thriving Silk Road city. Return to Turkistan and take the overnight train back to Almaty.
Day 8 - to Shonzhy
Full day excursion to Chary Canyon
Day 9 - Cross to Kyrgyzstan - to Karakol
Today we are off up the M41 to the Tajik-Kyrgyzstan border at Kizil Art Pass. After completing border formalities we descend the switchbacks to Sary Tash and continue to Osh. overnight at the guest house.
Day 10 – Karakol
Today set out for a full day excursion to Jety Oguz valley. Stop off at the iconic Seven Bulls Rocks then drive further into the valley to the yurt camp where we will have lunch. There is plenty of time this afternoon for leisurely walks in the valley. While at Jety Oguz we have arranged a demonstration of hunting by a traditional Golden Eagle Hunter.
Day 11 – To Cholpon Ata
The programme today takes us first to the Museum of Przhevalski, the Orthodox Church and Dungan Mosque all of which are in or near Karakol. Continue by road to Cholpon Ata. Visit the open air Petroglyph site and check into the hotel.
Day 12 – To Bishkek
Depart by road to Burana Tower and lunch. We have arranged a demonstration of Kyrgyz traditional games involving horse riding skills. After the demonstration continue to Bishkek and check into the hotel.
Day 13 – Bishkek
Today spend the day sightseeing in Bishkek After breakfast set out for some leisurely sightseeing around the parks, monuments and gardens of Bishkek.
Day 14 - Conclude
This morning transfer to the airport and conclude.
