Explore Hunza and Baltistan on this touring style journey, when the valleys of Pakistan’s northern mountains are resplendent with autumn colours.

This is an easy but wide ranging and diverse trip focused on the historic princely states of the Karakoram mountains.   Comfortable accommodation, pleasant weather conditions and plenty of opportunities for short walks and village visits are highlights of this journey.

We also include a visit to Misgar Village and an easy walk in the valley on the old route from "British India" to Kashgar in China.

Itinerary at a glance
Day 1 arrive Lahore
Arrive Lahore, transfer to hotel

Day 2 Lahore
Morning sightseeing to Lahore Fort and Badshahi Mosque. Afternoon visit to Shalimar Garden and Waggah for sunset border closing. Dinner tonight at CoCo's restaurant in the Diamond market overlooking Bad Shahi Mosque.

Day 3 Islamabad
This morning visit Lahore Museum and Anarkli bazaar for shalwar kameez shopping. After lunch depart for Islamabad by Daewoo bus. On arrival to Islamabad transfer to the hotel.

Day 4 Gilgit or Naran Valley
Transfer to airport for flight to Gilgit, on arrival transfer to the hotel. Rest of the day to explore the city, including visit the Kargah standing Buddah dating from the 8th century AD and walk through the Gilgit bazaar to hotel. If the flight is cancelled due to bad weather, drive to Naran.

Day 5 Gilgit
A full day sightseeing today to Ghakuch 70km, and explore Gizer valley. If the flight from Islamabad was cancelled due to weather, drive from Naran to Gilgit.

Day 6 Gulmit
This morning a beautiful drive on Karakoram highway to Gulmit (2500m) 140km, Sightseeing around Gulmit including a walking to Kamaris and an overview to Gulkin Village, a good opportunity to meet local people to experience the Karakorum mountain culture. Return to the hotel by vehicle.

Day 7 To Khunjerab and Sost
Excursion to the Pak/China border on the Khunjerab pass at 4734m, the route is through the national park with good opportunities to spot Karakoram wildlife. Return to Sost for overnight

Day 8 Passu
This morning a short drive (12km), to Misgar village. Hike to Kalandarchi fort (KD) 6km, and return to the village where we will have lunch at a local house. After lunch drive to Passu (37km), at the valley junction of Shimshal Pamirs where we will overnight.





Day 9 to Gulmit
A full day to explore around Passu Glacier lake. Walk and drive to Borit Village, then a 30minute uphill easy walk to the best view of the Passue Glacier. Return to Borit Lake for lunch before continuing to Gulmit where we will overnight.

Day 10 To Karimabad
This morning depart for Karimabad through the newly build 7km, rock tunnels over Attabad lake, sightseeing and photo stops en route Karimabad (2250m) is set in an idyllic amphitheatre among 7000m peaks; there is no equal in South Asia to Karimabad with its historic forts, bazaars packed with handicrafts, carpets and souvenirs.

Day 11 Karimabad
Walk to Baltit Fort through the old village, the path wanders through the Karimabad bazaar. Browse the handicraft shops and enjoy a leisurely day. In the afternoon take a 2km walk to the Altit village old settlement, an opportunity to observe the local Hunza customs. Return by vehicle to the hotel.

Day 12 Duekar
Today set out for walks through the village via water races and local roads down to Aliabad (6km). En route visit local carpet weaving centre. In the late afternoon take a jeep up Duiker (Eagles Nest) for spectacular sunset views and dinner.

Day 13 to Gilgit
After breakfast drive down valley to Gilgit, The thin ribbon of the Karakoram Highway winds its way through a spectacular array of giant ice covered peaks to pass below the towering ramparts of Rakaposhi (7788m). Stop at Rakaposhi View café for tea before arriving in Gilgit.

Day 14 to Islamabad
This morning early flight to Islamabad. Transfer to the hotel this afternoon drive to the Margalla Hills National Park for views out over the city and short walks. - If flight cancelled drive over Babusar pass to Naran to overnight.

Day 15 Islamabad
Today visit the National institute of Folk Art and heritage at Lok Versa Museum, the magnificent Shah Faisal Mosque and Rawalpindi’s famous Raja bazaar. If flight cancelled drive from Naran to Islamabad 220km, (7hrs).

Day 16 Islamabad - depart
Conclude your adventure with a transfer to the airport.
