Itinerary at a glance
Day 1 - Arrive Bangalore
Met by our representative on arrival and transfer to the Hotel.
Day 2 - to Mangalore
Today we set out for the drive across the Deccan Plateau to descend the spectacularly scenic Western Ghats. There will be plenty of stops along the way as we make our way down onto the coast to tropical Mangalore.
Day 3 - to Thalassery
This morning we plan to visit the old port, stop at the Sultan's battery and Kadri Temple before driving south along the coast to historic Thalasseri.
Day 4 - to Calikut
Time this morning to look around this 'Indian Heritage' designated city. There is plenty to see before moving further down the cost to Calikut for our overnight.
Day 5 - Calikut
Full day sightseeing Calikut, site of Vasco da Gama's landfall on the subcontinent in 1498.
Day 6 - to Kochi
We are off south along the coast today to Historic Kochi (Cochin). We break the trip at Thrissur and expect to arrive in this famous colonial era centre late afternoon. Sightseeing today and tomorrow morning in the Colonial era heritage city. Cultural show tonight.
Day 7 - to Kumarakom
This morning at leisure in Kochi then transfer to the inland waterway centre of Kumarakom.
Day 8 - Kumarakom
Today we board our houseboat for an extended overnight exploration of the waterways by houseboat.
Day 9 - to Periyar NP
Conclude the Houseboat cruise this morning and transfer across the picturesque Cardamon Hills to Thekkady the tea plantation hill station adjacent to Periyar National Park and Tiger Reserve.
Day 10 - Periyar NP
Today we have a full day for wildlife watching at Periyar National Park.
Day 11 - to Eravikulam NP
This morning we have an early morning wildlife watching opportunity then it's off by road for the 135km transfer to Munnar centre of Kerela's tea industry.
Day 12 - Eravikulam NP
Our destination today is Indira Ghandi National Park. Commonly known by the British colonial name 'Top Slip'. Here we have a full day nature watching in the National Park, home to the Nilgiri Thar and many other species of India's iconic fauna.
Day 13 - to Ootacamund
We have an early morning nature hike before heading off across country to Ootacamund. Expect to arrive late PM.
Day 14 - to Nagarhole NP
We move on to Nagarhole Reserve today. This is the habitat of India's largest population of wild Elephants. Nagarhole biodiversity is legendary and this will be a highlight of the tour.
Day 15 - Nagarhole NP
We are out and about in the National Park today.
Day 16 - to Mysore
Today after a final nature trek we are off for the 140km drive to Mysore.
Day 17 - to Bangalore conclude
This morning explore Mysore and afternoon transfer to Bangalore for departure.
Met by our representative on arrival and transfer to the Hotel.
